Online Shopping If you ever shop online, then why not visit our new shopping pages? Many major retailers can be reached through our store front page and by linking in this way, you save time and hassle visiting the shops and Jumpstart benefits by getting a contribution for every purchase you make. You'll see our searchable banner at the top of each page on the website.Have a look and if you like it, please recommend it to your friends and family as well. You'll find more information on the notice board at our sessions and in our publicity leaflets. The address to go to is www.buy.at/jumpstart Funding Update As you are no doubt aware, Jumpstart is a charity and only about a quarter of our income comes from the fees we charge at the sessions. The rest we have to fund raise for through grants etc. and getting fully funded is always an issue. We have various grants operating at the moment and were particularly pleased to receive a second, three year grant from the Big Lottery Fund about 18 months ago which funds Upton Bishop, Ross and Bishopswood sessions. Three year funding is, at the moment, unusual to find and it has given us the opportunity and security to plan and the Trustees are currently working on strategies for further funding. Watch this space for new initiatives! TRUSTEES - we need YOU! Would you like to come to the pub once every six weeks or so? Would you like to make some new friends and benefit children and young families with Jumpstart? Well, we want YOU to be a Trustee. Jumpstart is a charity and we are run by a fantastic, friendly, group of trustees on our Management Committee. The Trustees meet every six weeks or so and discuss issues relating to Jumpstart; what sessions are well attended and why; how the finances are looking; where we should look to develop for the future etc. You don't have to have any experience or do anything else except attend the meetings - just being there and sharing your views is enough. We would love to hear from anybody who thinks they may be interested in coming along to our meetings. If you think this is for you then we have a training budget for trustees and it is a really good way to find out about how charities work. Contact Jaine or speak to a Play Leader if you are at all interested. Parenting Library Look out for our brand new Parenting Library which will be brought out to sessions after Christmas. It is packed full of useful books with helpful and reassuring information on any subject relating to young children. There are also a selection of PC games suitable for you and your child to take away and play together at home. All these resources are there to be loaned out to parents and carers so, please, feel free! TABLE SALES OR SALES TABLES Do you have lots of good quality clothes or equipment cluttering your house? Why not have a Sale Table at one of the Jumpstart sessions? Once a month, at each session, there will be a table available for Jumpstart users to sell their secondhand children’s clothes, toys and equipment. All we ask is a straight £5 donation. Speak with the Play Leader to book a date. ROSS CHILDREN’S CENTRE! The idea of Children’s Centres is to act as a central location to provide all sorts of services for children and families and to ‘roll out’ those services into the wider community. To find out what's going on there, look for the notice board immediately on the left as you enter the Ryefield Centre by the main doors. There are more Children's Centres opening all over Herefordshire. There are new centres in Ledbury, Kington and Leominster as well.
