JUMPSTART SESSIONS FOR YOUNG PARENTS We provide weekly soft play sessions for young parents with pre-school aged children in Ross-on-Wye. The sessions run every Tuesday from 10:00am to 12 noon at the Ross-on-Wye Children’s Centre. Sessions are for parents aged 25 and under who come along with their babies and toddlers. Thanks to council funding the sessions cost just £1 per family attending and there is no need to book in advance. The sessions are a great way for young children to play with each other and with their parents/carers. Mums and Dads can enjoy meeting others and having a chat while the little ones burn off that extra energy. There is information available on the variety of services for families within the county, as well as occasional visits from people specialising in family services. “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract. It means we can extend the work we do in Ross-on-Wye. We also look forward to working in partnership with the Children’s Centre their services and maximise opportunities to young families with children under five.”
NEW WEEKLY SESSIONS FOR LEDBURY We are really excited to have been commissioned by Herefordshire Council to provide weekly sessions in Ledbury. These sessions will take place every Friday from 10am to 12pm at the Council's Youth Centre on Bye Street. Thanks to the Council funding, the sessions will cost just £1 per family. Sessions start on 23rd April 2010. The sessions will have all the usual elements that you expect from Jumpstart - lots of soft play, dressing up, parachute games, a baby section, group games, songs, music and stories. We are also looking forward to working in partnership with the Children's Centre in Ledbury to support their services and maximise opportunities for families with children under five years of age. THANKS TO CARGILL MEATS If you've been enjoying the new equipment at the sessions over the past few months then we have Cargill Meats to thank for this. They donated £500 to Jumpstart earlier this year. This helped us to buy our new playhouse, two parachutes, a soft play module, the mirror, the cuddly animal cushions, as well as lots of other items that are helping to make the sessions more fun and varied for the children. We'd like to say a big 'thank you' to Cargill for this support. They recently visited one of our sessions and enjoyed seeing the children having so much fun with the new play equipment.

TRUSTEES - we need YOU! Would you like to come to the pub once every six weeks or so? Would you like to make some new friends and benefit children and young families with Jumpstart? Well, we want YOU to be a Trustee. Jumpstart is a charity and we are run by a fantastic, friendly, group of trustees on our Management Committee. The Trustees meet every six weeks or so and discuss issues relating to Jumpstart; what sessions are well attended and why; how the finances are looking; where we should look to develop for the future etc. You don't have to have any experience or do anything else except attend the meetings - just being there and sharing your views is enough. We would love to hear from anybody who thinks they may be interested in coming along to our meetings. If you think this is for you then we have a training budget for trustees and it is a really good way to find out about how charities work. Contact Mags or speak to a Play Leader if you are at all interested. PARENTING LIBRARY Look out for our Parenting Library which will be brought out to sessions. It is packed full of useful books with helpful and reassuring information on any subject relating to young children. There are also a selection of PC games suitable for you and your child to take away and play together at home. All these resources are there to be loaned out to parents and carers so, please, feel free! TABLE SALES OR SALES TABLES Do you have lots of good quality clothes or equipment cluttering your house? Why not have a Sale Table at one of the Jumpstart sessions? Once a month, at each session, there will be a table available for Jumpstart users to sell their secondhand children’s clothes, toys and equipment. All we ask is a straight £5 donation. Speak with the Play Leader to book a date.
